Tools: Unity, AWS S3, Google Geospatial Tiles
Overview
The DOOH VR Review Tool is an immersive enterprise application developed to solve a critical challenge in the digital-out-of-home (DOOH) industry: accurately visualizing anamorphic 3D content before it goes live. Traditional 2D mockups fail to capture the “magic” and depth of these illusions, leading to guesswork in the client approval process. This tool eliminates that ambiguity by allowing stakeholders to step into a virtual replica of the real-world location and experience the final creative work in true 3D space on Meta Quest headsets.
The application serves multiple purposes: as a powerful client review portal, an efficient internal iteration tool for creative teams, and a compelling sales tool to showcase a portfolio of past work in its intended environment.
Key Features
Immersive 3D Visualization: The core of the application is its ability to let users experience the depth and scale of anamorphic video content, removing the need to imagine the final 3D effect.
Dynamic Content Management: The entire project, location, and video structure is managed in an AWS S3 bucket. This architecture allows new projects and videos to be added and updated instantly without rebuilding or redeploying the application, allowing for non-technical users to manage the content.
Geospatial Locations: Utilizing Google 3D Geospatial Tiles to generate abstracted, performant models of real-world environments from GPS coordinates.
